net_horizon

net_horizon

net_horizon is an expressive interactive music visualizer that sends the player into an abstract digital world, combining classic arcade-style rhythm games with generative live visuals.
This story is about a rogue data fragment, deviating from its original value stream. Wandering endlessly, it even dares to challenge the digital horizon.

I created net_horizon using the Godot game engine. Most effects and visuals are generated through code with a heavy emphasis on shaders. Notes are optimized through GPU instancing and vertex-displacement.

The note sequence is created with the help of a program called ArrowVortex. net_horizon can read those files and uses them to determine where and when notes appear, but also when to play effects.

The music is made by Frums, an well-known artist in the rhythm-game community.
